Back in mid 2011, my pals Donnie and Glenn, my father and I joined forces to start selling T-Shirts on Zazzle… because beer simply does not buy itself.
I’m Drew, the graphic designer behind this site. Donnie and I would spend long hours drinking lots of beer and thinking up the craziest ideas that our drunken minds could come up with… and I’d throw them on a shirt. Over time and many, many “conferences”, we’d accumulated over 10,000 products, from T-Shirts to Beer Coozies, because justice. My father would often give suggestions for more intellectual concepts, and I set Glenn up with his own shop, Biker’s Blend which catered to rider related humor and even had a store set up with tame, church-friendly artwork. Rude humor is fun, but the nice people need stuff as well.
We were doing well, but as often happens, life gets in the way. Between our children and regular jobs, Poe’s Emporium fell to the wayside. For about 4 or 5 years, it sat dormant, occasionally selling a product here and there, and that was fine. However, last week I looked at the store just for the hell of it… and almost ALL of my products had been hidden. THOUSANDS OF THEM. The temerity!
It was the kick in the ass we needed, so we’re back. We’re starting fresh with a new, more modern website, Facebook page… the works. It’ll take awhile to re-upload all the designs that we had, but it’s a good thing. While we had some kick-ass products, some in retrospect were kind of dumb… so they will not be reincarnated. Once that’s done, and even during the process, we’ve got a pile of new ideas to throw into the fray… some just simple sayings, and some other high-concept psycho stuff, which is our forte.
We’re back. Let’s have some fun!
